Today we are going to look at some artwork that shows people alone and people who are together.

Artists pay attention to how people show that they care about each other.

The also pay attention to the places that are important to people.

Can you show special people and places in your life in your artwork?

What do you notice that makes this picture interesting?

Chopped ART Edition

 Have you ever seen the cooking show Chopped?

What do you know about it?

It is a cooking contest where the contestants are given a 'mystery basket' full of ingredients that they have to use to make a delicious meal. Besides the 'mystery ingredients' they can also use the shows pantry of items. 

We are going to have our own version of Chopped today for those that choose. You will get a 'mystery bag' of items. You must use all the ingredients in your bag, don't leave anything out. 

You can also use items from our pantry,

Scissors

Glue

Paper (1 big and any number of smalls)

Tape

Crayons

Markers

Sharpies

Think about some characteristics that you have.  What words describe you?

Talkative?  Shy?  Funny?  Strong?  Loyal?

Could the words that describe you, also describe an animal?

What would that animal be?

More Ways to Show Who I Am

This week we continue to think about who we are, and how we can show that through our art.

We have been focusing on portraits which show what we LOOK like, but as artists we want to show more about WHO we are, WHAT we like and what is IMPORTANT to us.

Here are some examples of artists that have found interesting ways to solve that problem.

Portraits Can Show Who I Am

 Last week we learned how to make a Face Map to help us create a realistic portrait.

St. Louis Dairy Card Contest

 Sometimes artists enter contests with a theme.

You can enter a contest by creating a card about cows and Christmas!

If you want to make a picture for the contest, you will draw first with a pencil, trace with a sharpie and color using colored pencils, crayons and markers.

If you decide to enter you will need to work on the picture 2 times and do your best. The winners will be announced on December 1st, so in about 4 weeks.
