We know a self-portrait is a picture of what we look like. But there is so much more about us that is important! 

Can you create a self-portrait that also shows what is important to you?

Marc Chagall painted this self-portrait. He wanted to show some of the things that were important to him. 

What is he thinking about? Where did he place the things he was thinking about?

If you are going to create a self-portrait ask yourself these questions.

- Where will you place your head?

- What shape will you draw first?

- What things will you include in your self-portrait to show what you think and care about?

All people have other people they are close to and care about.

Who do you feel close to?

We share our lives with them in different ways.

Important moments like the birth of a new baby.

When we spend time together, like at school.

We create memories together, what is happening in this picture?

As artists we share our lives with others.

Can we make art about things that we care about? 

Our memories?

*What about when we are apart from people we care about? How can we reach out to them? How can we still share our thoughts and feelings?
