But just like we try not to draw simple stick people, I bet we can draw a house that is more realistic too.
What if instead of just drawing a house, you tried to draw something more meaningful, like YOUR house. Or your Grandma's house? Or your dream house?
To do this you must first close your eyes and ENVISION. I like to start with envisioning the front door.
Does your front door look like this?
Probably not. Ask yourself these questions.
- Does it have a window in it?
- Does it have a step?
- Does it have a doorbell?
- Is there anything next to the door like a light or your house numbers?
- Do you have anything on your door like a wreath?
This is what my door kind of looks like.
Here are some more examples of doors.
Once you have drawn your door, envision your windows.
-How many windows? What shape are they?
- Do your windows have shutters next to them? Small roof shapes over them?
Now you may be ready to draw the shape of your house and your roof.
Finally you are ready to add any more details you can remember about your house and the front yard.
Here are the stages your drawing may go through.
Can you turn a house into your home?
